Lake Clouds

Posted by
John (Williston, Vermont, United States) on 26 December 2024 in Landscape & Rural.

Lake Champlain is frozen at the shallow ends, north and south. But here in the middle, where it is 400 feet deep, freezing takes longer. In recent years it has not happened at all. Given the relative warmth of the lake, on a cold day with only a gentle breeze, it forms clouds over the surface and today a bit above that. It has been very cold the past five days.
